I hope you had a well rested weekend....I wish I could say I
did....buuutttt....no! I had a fun weekend, not a well rested one, so I guess
the fun should make up for the lack of rest??... *sigh*
The much anticipated Beauty Africa Exhiition and Conference which is the largest beauty convention in
Nigeria was held last week from the 6th to the 8th of October. The event was
packed with beauty industry exhibitors and professionals from all over the continent
who spoke on a lot of industry topics, issues and also gave demos on beauty
tips, tricks and trends. Did I also mention there was also a nail art
competition where winners won loads of goody bags and a cash prize? It was a
very successful, informative and
interactive 3 days. I can't wait for next year's!!
For day one, the various exhbitors were all set up and there
were educative sessions and live demos
by various industry professionals like Mamza Beauty on Nigerian Bridal, Nibi
Lawson on Building a healthy hair regimen, Jide of St.Ola on Fresh Face, Mmarco
Louis on International Trends and Pamela Bello-Olatunji on Skin Care.
Day two started with a panel of experts which included Banke
Meshida Lawal, Daboju Michael Ogboru, Louisa Kinoshi, Lola OJ,Mocheddah and
Doranne Beauty with Ezinne Alfa of Beauty in Lagos as the moderator. They
discussed topics ranging from branding, the influence of social media on
brands/businesses and so on. Live sessions and demos followed after by Banke
Meshida Lawal on The authentic Nigerian look, Lola Maja (who almost scared
everyone from their seats) on SFX Creative, Bimpe Onakoya on Classic midcentury
glamour with a twist and Pamela Bello-Olatunji on Skincare: Microdermabrasion.
The last day of the exhibition and conference started off
with Mimi Marwa who got emotional talking abot the effects of Boko Haram on her
home state, Adamawa State but she gave a beautiful demo on Skincare and Henna,
Wondrous CarterBrown on Short hair styling (her hair styling skills are no joke), Rhema Akabuogu on The art of highlights
and lowlights and the final demo of the day was by Dave Sucre on Getting the
perfect glow. One of the major highlights of the 3rd day was the announcement
of the nail art competition winner (which was moderated by Chigul) who won the
cash prize of.......wait for it........1 million naira!!!! It really was a very
fun, educative 3 days and I cannot wait to see what next year's conference will
have in store.
Thank you for dropping by, xoxo.
Dobzi.
