I am sure you wonder how your favorite makeup artists get their clients
faces looking as flawless and as camera ready as they do. What if I told you
getting a flawless face isn’t as tasking as you would think, all it starts with
is a flawless foundation application and to achieve a flawless foundation
routine, a few simple steps have to be followed. So without much further ado,
join me as I list and show you the steps to achieving a flawless foundation
application.
Step 1 - Eye Makeup: This is a personal preference, it is
not compulsory that this is your first step, it can as well be your last step,
it doesn’t matter. I am used to doing my eye makeup before my face makeup.
Step 2 - Moisturize: Skin care is really important, when you
take good care of your skin; it only makes it easier to achieve flawless
makeup. So don’t skip your moisturizer.
Step 3 - Prime: It is still shocking to me that some people
still don’t use a primer before applying foundation *I never hexperrit* (Click
here to read my post on proper foundation application to understand/learn why
priming is important).
Step 4 - Color correct: Cancel out discolorations on your
skin by using a color corrector. Most of us women of color have hyper
pigmentation thereby resulting in uneven skin tone. For me I have dark circles
under my eyes and around my jaw and also dark spots as a result of picking pimples
(a bad habit I need to quit). So I use an orange corrector to cancel out these
discolorations as orange cancels out darkness.
Step 5 - Apply Foundation: Know your skin type, what
foundation suits you, correct foundation shade, and then apply foundation
evenly.
Step 6 - Apply Concealer: Use concealer only where needed,
if you did step 4 and 5 correctly, you wouldn’t really need to conceal. I used
concealer just under my eyes to give a bit of highlight.
Step 7 - Powder: Set the under eye concealer and powder your
whole face, this step helps to keep your foundation put.
Step 8 - Contour: This is not a mandatory step, you can just
strob instead if that is your preference (click here for my post on strobing
and contouring), to get a flawless face, adding a bit of definition to the face
is key. I did very minimal contouring here, just to define my facial features.
If you’re going to contour with cream or liquid, then this should be your step
7, I used powder for contouring.
Step 9 - Blush: After steps 4,5, 6 and 7 your face is
basically just plain and pale. So, step 8 and 9 bring back some color and
definition to the face to complete a flawless face.
Step 10 – Lips: Apply your lipstick, lip gloss, lip
stain……..whatever your preference is and VA VA VOOOMM…..you’re in the slaying
business.
My hair is a wig made by myself, the hair was also colored by me. Try these steps, let me know how you slayed. Do you have any
other tips and tricks to getting a flawless face? Let’s hear it….sharing is
caring. Until my next post guys, stay slaying, xoxo.

Deletehmmmmmmm! thanks Dobzi, this post has got me adding primer to my shopping list. I had planned to go buy a concealer at my favourite makeup store today. Now, my questions are: 1. can I do without a primer if I will be using a concealer? or the primer is really indispensable (as u said) 2. For my everyday makeup, which do u suggest I buy: the colour correct or a concealer? Because u just explained the perform the same function, but which one is better for my regular use?
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup!
Hi Ijeoma, thank you for dropping by. Now to answer your questions
Delete1. You definitely need a primer , you need to know what your skin type is and what you need the primer to do for you before choosing a primer. I put a link in the post where you can read up about primers.
2. A colour corrector and concealer don't perform the same functions. I'll definitely do a post on colour correcting for better understanding but for everyday use, I'd suggest getting a concealer instead.
