Howdy my people? Thank God it’s Friday!! The hustle and bustle
of the week is almost over and the time for some turning up relaxation is
here, I hope you have had a fulfilling week, so far. As we all must know and
have felt by now, the dry season is here and tis the season to take extra care of ourselves.
So I’m going to share with you my top beauty essentials (products) for the dry
season.
Moisturizer: During the dry (harmattan) season, moisture is lost
from the skin faster than usual and to maintain healthy, radiant, good looking
skin, it’s important to retain your skin’s moisture. To do that, you have to moisturize,
moisturize and moisturize. Moisturize in the morning after taking a warm bath,
in between your day, moisturize those exposed body part like your hands,
elbows, knees, feet (so it is important to have a handy moisturizer in your bag/purse)
and at night before you go to bed, moisturize. Your skin will thank you.
Hair Oils/Creams/Lotions: It’s not just your skin that loses
moisture, your scalp and hair do as well and the dry season only hastens
moisture loss. Lack of moisture in the scalp/hair can cause hair breakage, very
slow or no hair growth. So your hair requires extra attention during this dry
season. Use hair oils, creams and lotions to seal in hair moisture. I have a mixture
of water, hair oils and leave in conditioner in a spray bottle that I use on my
hair every day and that helps retain my hair and scalp moisture.
Hair Serums: Even our weaves and wigs need some attention
and care especially during this dry season. A lot of ladies and men
spend good money on buying weaves, installing them and sometimes turning them
into wigs so you need to properly care for your weave to make sure it stays in
great shape and lasts a long time for you. In addition to properly washing and
conditioning your weave, the hair serum gives weaves some shine and also helps
to lock in moisture. Just don’t go crazy on the serum, a little goes a long way,
make sure to massage a little bit gently and evenly into the weave.
Lip Balm: Chapped, broken, dry, white lips are very
unattractive. There’s a simple solution and it’s called **drum roll please** ……..LIP
BALM. A lip balm moisturizes, heals and protects the lips from breaking and dryness,
my favourite at the moment is the EOS lip balm which you cannot catch me
without, this is my must have beauty product for every season. The lips dry up
really fast during the harmattan season, so a lip balm should always be handy.
H2O: Water is the ultimate beauty tool for every season, through
every weather. The dry season dehydrates you faster, so stay hydrated and drink lots of water, your
skin will love you for it.
I would like to hear what your beauty essentials are. Thank you for stopping by, wishing everyone a happy and safe
weekend. Stay moisturized until my next post, xoxo.
